The Contagion Issue

Description

Sickness is one of the main things that we suppress today, in an era where we are obsessed with physical fitness and perpetually chasing health. It’s a Taboo by definition: it’s difficult to talk about in a detached and objective manner, because by its very nature it creates tension, evoking our desires and instincts.
When faced with a contagious diseases, the obsession is magnified even higher: we don’t know if or when we will fall ill, or who could transmit something to us. That’s how contagion works, and it isn’t always predictable.
This is what CNR-IGM (Institute of Molecular Genetics), CNR-IRPPS (Institute for Research on Population and Social Policies), Paola Barbato (Dylan Dog) and Riccardo Burchielli (John Doe, DMZ) want to tell us about.
